What's my Style

Whenever I have talked about decorating to folks, inevitably I am asked "what's your style". I never quite know how to answer that. I am not a professional decorator or designer. I have not gone to school for design. I think I know what my style is NOT but NOT what it is.

I design and decorate for me. When I have been asked to stage homes for sale, I try to take into consideration the style of the home for the design. I always cringe when someone asks me to help them with their decorating, not because I do not want to help but because I am not well versed in every style. I only know what I like. But I do my best and that seems to have gotten me this far.

I am a professional nurse not a professional designer. Decorating is my hobby and passion. Planning and decorating a room for a themed event, whether that is a small dinner party or a large event is what gets me excited, not designing a bathroom. I leave interior designing to those that are the experts such as Joanna Gaines - Magnolia Home. She is wonderful at designing. I used to live in Austin and go through Waco where she is based, so somehow that made her more real to me (in a non-stalker kind of way). Another favorite of mine is Pioneer Woman - Ree Drummond - I have been watching her show since it came out and her kids were little. I am always amazed that people can cook without an apron on and not be wearing the food. She wears these flowing type sleeves and never gets them in the food. I would probably catch them on fire. I wear an apron when I am cooking and decorating. The pockets are great for your cell phone, pens, scissors, etc. The older you get the more those things run away from you and play hide and seek.

My goal is to put my ideas on YouTube and hopefully you will see something you like; I hope that you find a hobby or inspiration to do something for yourself and get as much enjoyment from life as possible.

For me it is my family first and always, then the rest is work and hobbies.

Take Care - Susan
